Problem
You need to install software yourself but you're not admin, so how can you achieve this.
Solution
CAD Faculty have the ability to promote themselves to be admin for 30 minutes at a time or until the computer is rebooted.
Do the following to promote yourself to admin status:
Activating Privileges:
You can find it on your Dock or in your Applications. Or press Command + Space Bar and type “Privileges” and the application will pop up.
Click on “Request Privileges” and you will now be admin for 30 minutes, having the ability to install software that you would like.
If you do not see Privileges at all move on to step 2.
Open RIT Self Service
Do this by clicking it on your dock (if it's there), it's a Tiger Icon.
Or press Command + Space Bar and type “RIT Self Service” and it should pop up.
The following window should pop up:
Click on “Install” under Privileges(Privs).
Once it is installed you can find it on your Dock or in your Applications Folder:
Now that you have Privileges installed, head back to step 1 and activate it!
If this process doesn't work or you don't see Privileges as an option in your RIT Self Service please submit a ticket to the CAD Helpdesk, and we can further assist you.
NOTE: You do not need to worry about Demoting yourself when you are done this is done automatically.
