FAQ

Where can I use the Crashplan app?

Please only use the application on RIT owned resource that is assigned to you.

What data can I backup using the Crashplan app?

You have full control over the backup selection for your RIT owned device. Any work related data may be backed up.

Notes about your inital backup.

Crashplan will back up your data in the background to two separate cloud-based locations. However, depending on how much data you have on your computer, this CAN take some time. We recommend that, while on a high-speed network (i.e. RIT campus network, GreenLight, etc), the user should leave their laptop open (not sleeping) and plugged in to power to speed up the full cloud backup process. If you are using a lot of drive space on your computer, this can take a week or more. However, the process works behind the scenes to back up your data.

You will receive an email/message from CrashPlan when your first full backups are completed.

How is my data protected?

All data transferred to Code42 (Crashplan) is encrypted at rest and in transit and is not processed by Code42 for any purpose other than as agreed upon for the provision of products and services.
