ISSUE:
When a user wants to stop screen mirroring to a projector, if they go to Display Settings and press Stop Mirroring, this will delete their ability to ever mirror again until the following file (com.apple.windowserver.displays.plist ) is deleted. The issue started with MacOS 15.1.1.
SOLUTION:
Users can launch RIT Self Service and search for Screen Mirroring Fix.
- This utility removes the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.displays.plist file.
- Reboot is required after it has run to implement the fix.
PREFERRED METHOD FOR ADJUSTING SCREEN MIRRORING:
Users should go to the Screen Mirroring menu and change the display from here, NOT in System Settings panel or from the Displays option in the menu bar.
