UPDATED 1/19/2026
DO NOT REMOVE ANY OF THE CABLES FROM THE BACK OF THE TEACHER STATION, THE BENQ MONITORS, OR THE AV UNITS MOUNTED UNDER THE TABLE.
The AV wiring has been set up very specifically, and when users move/change the cables, it creates issues for the next user.
If something isn’t working, please contact the CADTech Helpdesk immediately by ticket or by calling 585-475-7771.
Once powered on, the projector will not display a signal and the screen will remain black. until an input is selected. You will also have to log in to the computer you are using for the projection sync to initiate.
There can also be a 30-60 second delay while it initially syncs the signal (especially first usage of the day).
Using the Crestron AV switcher:
1. Tap Start Sharing Content on the Crestron to power up the projector and start the system.
- The projection screen will default to black (no projection) until an input is selected!
2. To select an input to share:
- Tap Share PC on the Crestron panel to share the Teacher Station
- Tap Share HDMI on the Crestron panel to share a laptop/etc connected to the HDMI cable with the laptop label
- Tap Share USB-C on the Crestron panel to share a laptop/etc connected to the USB-C cable with the laptop label
3. When finished, log out of the Teacher Station (or disconnect laptop) and tap the I’m all Done button on the bottom right of the Crestron touchpad to power down the projector.
TIPS:
– The projection screen will not display any image until an input is selected.
– Use one of the two extra cables on the teacher desk for the laptop.
– DO NOT disconnect any cables from the Teacher Station!
TROUBLESHOOTING:
If the projector doesn’t sync with the teacher station when you first try to connect, try the following:
Reboot the teacher station and reboot the projection system by tapping I’m all done on the Crestron panel.
Next, power on the projection system by tapping Start Sharing Content on the Crestron panel.
Once the Crestron is displaying the sharing option buttons, THEN log in to the teacher station (or connect your laptop).
Select your desired input.
DISPLAY MIRRORING OPTIONS
On the teacher station, you can adjust the Display settings by going to System > Displays. The two BenQ monitors show up as displays 1 and 2 and the projection shows as display 3. The left BenQ should be Display 1 and the right BenQ should be Display 2, but you can confirm this by clicking on Identify in the Display settings.
1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and select Display settings to open the Display page. Your PC should automatically detect your monitors and show your desktop. If you don't see the monitors, select Detect.
2. In the Display Settings window, you should see either three displays (See fig. 1) or two display icons with one having either 1|3 or 2|3 (indicating which displays are being duplicated). (See fig 2)
3. In the top display area, clicking on the rightmost dropdown menu will bring up your display options. Select the option that works best for your needs.
For the largest work area, select Extend desktop.
To duplicate/mirror displays, select Duplicate desktop on (X).
4. Confirm your selection.
TIPS:
• You can use Identify to temporarily pop a number up on each screen determine which display is which.
• By default, we can only mirror/duplicate two screens at a time. Duplicating/mirroring screens requires a more powerful graphics card than is currently in most of the labs.
