THE DETAILS
We've found that the Pathocide disinfectant provided in classrooms is only appropriate for furniture – table top surfaces and hard seating materials (i.e. not upholstered). It should be misted onto furniture at the end of class. Do not wipe it immediately after misting, mist and go away. The Pathocide needs to sit for a minimum of ten minutes to be effective. If you enter a classroom or studio at the beginning of class, and find that the surfaces that were disinfected by the previous class are still damp (they might be)- go ahead and wipe down those surfaces prior to the start of class.
Pathocide has the potential to corrode electronics and metals found in much of the technology and equipment present in CAD labs, studios, and shops. We have created special cleaning stations (be it mobile carts or wall-mounted dispensers) supplied with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution in spray bottle (with a red ID label). These are better-suited for use on our equipment. Please use the alcohol-based disinfectant by spraying onto a paper towel and wiping down furniture and equipment in labs. We ask that you use this disinfectant at the end of your classes- there should not be a need to disinfect at the beginning of class as the previous class will have done that.
We've also distributed hand sanitizer (green label 16oz bottles, or gallon jugs) for use in our facilities as well. Please use this sanitizer before and after handling the disinfecting bottles.
NEVER spray any alcohol-based disinfectant directly onto any computers, keyboards, technology, tools, equipment, furniture etc. Always spray onto a paper towel, and then use the dampened towel to wipe areas and common touch points that are to be disinfected.
NOTE ABOUT WACOM TABLETS
If you are in a lab that makes use of Wacom Tablets, please make sure that both the tablets and their pens are CAREFULLY wiped down.
