Avid Media Composer Crashes on launch

Authors list

The Problem: Avid Media Composer crashes on launch while trying to initialize the AVX drivers.

CAD Tech had to develop a quick fix for this situation when Pro Tools and Media Composer are installed on the same computer and multiple users using the same computer.

Turns out, Media Composer sometimes has problems with loading the audio plug-ins installed by Pro Tools.

Our fix, a quick little app that will return the Audio plug-ins back to the initial plug-ins installed by Avid Media Composer installer.

For the user:

If Avid crashes, run the "Avid App Fix" app located on the desktop of the computer. This app will move the Pro Tools Plug-Ins to the unused plug-ins folder.

Once you run it, you will see a status window pop up. Once the process completes, hit the "Quit" button.

Now launch Avid Media Composer.

Note:

If you need the Pro Tools audio plug-ins, just quit out of Avid MC and then run the Avid App Fix app again to put the plug-ins back. At this point, you can launch Avid Media Composer and it will run.
